The graphic below was developed after reflecting on conversations with several hospitality clients over the years. Innovators and entrepreneurs, perhaps blinded by their enthusiasm, often believe that an idea can be brought to market if they clear one, maybe two, legal hurdles. In fact, implementation often requires the navigation of several regulatory regimes, either through identifying exemptions or crafting administratively feasible compliance mechanisms. Importantly, these legal obligations must often be evaluated in tandem with obstacles presented by lenders and business partners, which may or may not be consistent with the selected legal compliance strategies.
